Study Program Overview
Information about 2011 ELTF study programs is available on the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations website.
The 2010 ELTF France study program comprised three weeks of intensive language and cultural study, including field trips. Awardees departed Australia on or around 30 December 2009 and arrived back by 23 January 2010.
The program format consisted of two weeks language and cultural training and the equivalent of a seven-day field trip. The language training component took place at Centre d’Approches Vivantes des Langues et des Medias (CAVILAM) in Vichy. CAVILAM is a highly regarded language and cultural training provider. Vichy, a spa town in the Bourbonnais region, offered Awardees an opportunity to enjoy the daily lifestyle and culture of provincial France. CAVILAM also arranged homestay with local host families for the duration of the language training component. Homestay enabled Awardees to become immersed in the language and culture of France, as well as make new and lasting friendships.
The field trip incorporated a range of activities in different parts of France to enable Awardees to maximise their professional learning opportunities. Awardees had the opportunity to interact with members of the local community, improve their language proficiency and collect authentic language and cultural resources in major city areas as well as rural and regional areas of historical and cultural significance.
The Group Leader for the 2010 ELTF France study program was Kristyn Paul, whose role was to:
- accompany and work with Awardees to support and extend their learning;
- assist Awardees to gain the most from their experience;
- assist in managing program logistics and finances;
- liaise with program deliverers and travel providers; and
- assist in the smooth running of the program.
In addition to the information provided on this site, Awardees:
- received mailout briefing materials;
- participated in a one-hour teleconference*; and
- participated in an online discussion group*.
*Further information on these activities was sent to successful Awardees by mail.
